Dru & Darla Double Drabble
Written for
crazydiamondsue. She asked for Dru/Darla, then she left me these lyrics by U2. Here lies absolutely no sex or nekkidness and very vague references to possible torture, so, yeah, nothing graphic. Set post-Angel's soul in Romania, but pre-Boxer Rebellion in China. Un-beta like you wouldn't believe.
He’s leaving them to find Angelus; this gaunt, adolescent piece of nothing is off to find his sire. Never mind that his real sire is still in their home, already silent and abandoned, unlike Darla who’s been abandoned and raging since leaving Romania. This must be what heartbreak feels like, but she’s quite pleased she doesn’t have a soul to search about it.
Slamming the door at Spike’s fading image, she steps back into the drawing room where Drusilla allows this so they can forget the men that love them. She walks toward the center of the room and reaches out to the woman standing there, quiet and glazed. She wants to snap her fingers in Drusilla’s face. She wants a reaction, a blink of her gone eyes, shake of her looped curls, a movement; but hopefully not words because she’s not sure she’d be able to handle the rhymes and riddles of Angelus’ favorite. Placing shallow slices on the flesh stretched across Drusilla’s collarbone with her pinky nail, quick cat scratches that split the skin so finely it knits back together under her gaze, she loses herself in the cruelty she douses on the only one she has left.

Yessss...exactly! She can't be alone, but god forbid she hear about the Prince of Cups and his birthday again. Beautiful! So cruel. *note to self: make Vin a Vampire songs CD. Nothing Goth* I loved the shallow slices, too. And losing herself in her cruelty. *happy sigh* I love Darla. And you.

Dude, do you know how much fic I would write and how many icons I would make for you for a Vamp!CD? No? Me neither, but there would be some for sure.

And guess what I've been reading all morning? Darla/Dru to bone up on my cadence etc. for the Crusilla fic that must come.
"Gaunt, adolescent piece of nothing"
Ouch and yeah.

And you have no idea how much it hurt my heart to say such things about my Spike-y Poo! He is of the sinewy beautifulness, yes he is.
Hee! You said 'bone up'.

I always had a little trouble with Darla - she's portrayed as an utter bitch, but then most of her on-screen time when interacting with the other vamps is usually pretty...low key. I must not be watching the right eps.
Lovely stuff! Poor Dru, so lost and Darla so lonely. Nobody to sparr with.

See I didn't like Darla on BtVS and for the first handful of eps she was on Angel I didn't care about her either way, but then mid season 2 of AtS I really... understood her, I guess. She's a really good character; lots of layers, very insightful and pretty amusing at times. She has a calm cruelty that I like a great deal.

I'll have to see season two soon, then.
Was there any indication of how she acted around/treated Spike? I can't suss it out from the bits i've seen.... I'd like to be more 'real' in my own writing.
I think she's pretty interesting, too, and i'm prepared to like her already.

Neat. Thanks!

I love the image of Spike as she sees him. I think it's very apt.

I always feel a bit sorry for Darla and I think Angelus getting a soul must have been very hard for her.
